NCBWA ANNOUNCES DIVISION II ALL-NORTHEAST REGION TEAMS
CAWLEY NAMED TO FIRST TEAM; CORBETT NAMED TO SECOND TEAM

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The post-season awards keep rolling in for Pace University senior's Jack Cawley (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) and Dustin Corbett (Vestal, NY/Vestal), as the classmates were both honored on the 2008 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II All-Northeast Region Team. Cawley was named to the First Team, while Corbett was named to the Second Team. The duo have both been named to the 2008 Northeast-10 Conference Baseball All-Conference First Team, the 2008 Daktronics Division II All-Northeast Region Second Team and the 2008 American Baseball Coaches of America (ABCA)/Rawlings Division II Northeast Region First Team.

Cawley and Corbett were both instrumental in leading Pace (31-23, 18-12 NE-10) to its third straight 30-win season, fourth overall in program history. The 31 wins this season are second only to the 34 wins posted by the 2006 squad. The Setters earned the 5th seed in the NE-10 Tournament defeating the 4th seed University of Massachusetts- Lowell in the first round 7-1, before falling to NCAA tournament bound #1 seed Bryant University and #2 seed Southern Connecticut State University, 4-3 and 6-1, respectively, in the double elimination round of the tournament.

Cawley, the 2008 Pace Male Athlete of the Year, had a standout senior campaign starting in all 54 games this season for Pace, topping the team in batting average (.333), slugging percentage (.486), on base percentage (.422), hits (70), RBI (41), runs scored (39), home runs (6), total bases (102), walks (31) and stolen bases (20). In the NE-10, Cawley ranked seventh in on base percentage, tied for seventh in homeruns and walks, tied for ninth in RBI and tied for fifth in stolen bases. Cawley ends his stellar four year career ranked third all-time at Pace in hits (221), fifth all-time in doubles (43), tied for eighth in triples (6), 11th in RBI (113), ninth in runs scored (135), seventh in walks (83) and fourth in stolen bases (72).

Corbett was a workhorse this season for the Setters making a team-high 12 starts posting a 7-3 record with a 1.20 ERA in 82.1 innings pitched, to go along with a pair of complete games and a shutout. He struck out 76 batters on the year and held opposing hitters to a .185 batting average. Corbett bested the team in wins, ERA and innings pitched. In the NE-10, Corbett ranked first in ERA, fourth in opposing batter average, sixth in innings pitched, seventh in strikeouts, tied for seventh in wins and tied for fifth in games started. Corbett leaves Pleasantville ranked first all-time in school history in innings pitched (240.0) and strikeouts (199), while ranking second all-time in career victories (19) and eighth all-time in ERA (3.00).
