PACE BASEBALL PLAYERS IN SUMMER BALL
PLEASANTVILLE, NY - Eight Pace University baseball have joined summer leagues as they gear up for the 2008-09 year.
Vinny Dammann (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) is playing for the Danbury Westerns of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Christopher Spatkowski (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern), Michael Mastrogiovanni (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) and Nicolas Demeo (Farmingville, NY/Sachem East) have joined the Elmira Pioneers of the New York Collegiate Baseball League, while Salvatore DePaola (East Meadow, NY/Kellenberg) is also in the NYCBL as a member of the Allegany Nitros. Mike Schiarretta (Stamford, CT/Stamford) is playing for the Hampton Whalers of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, with Laurence Flammia (Massapequa, NY/St. Anthony's) joining the Long Island Mustangs of the ACBL. Zach Dayton (North Falmouth, MA/Falmouth) is a member of the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox of the Horizon Air Summer Series.

Spatkowski has played in 11 games so far, posting a .311 batting average with five RBIs, three doubles, six runs scored and is 2-for-4 in stolen bases for Elmira. Also on the Pioneers is Mastrogiovanni, who in three starts in the mound, has posted a 1-1 record with a 4.91 ERA. He has recorded 12 strikeouts in 11 innings pitched.
