MEN FALL TO MOUNT SAINT MARY AND DEFEAT
YORK;
WOMEN POST PAIR OF WINS IN TRI-MEET
NEWBURGH, NY - The Pace University men's and women's swimming & diving teams were in action last night competing in a tri-meet against Mount Saint Mary College and York College. The men fell to host Mount Saint Mary 65-29 and defeated York 43-25, while the women defeated both Mount Saint Mary and York by scores of 52-39 and 58-20, respectively. Combined, the Setters lost to Mount Saint Mary 104-81 and beat York 101-45.
On the men's side freshman Ryosuke Kameyama (Goshen, NY/Goshen Central) continued his solid season posting a pair of first place finishes in the Men's 50-yard Freestyle (22.92) and the Men's 100-yard Butterfly (57.15). Kameyama also placed second in the Men's 100-yard Breaststroke (1:07.89) as Matt Peters of Mount Saint Mary just edged him out with a time of 1:07.16. Junior Craig McClintock (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla) posted three second place finishes in the Men's 200-yard Freestyle (2:04.78), the Men's 100 Backstroke (1:05.68) and the Men's 500-yard Freestyle (5:26.60). Classmate Peter Byrnes (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West) took second in the Men's 1,000-yard Freestyle with a time of 11:28.37.
On the women's side, senior Meghan Morley (Delhi, NY/Delhi Central), sophomore Erin Johanson (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield), and freshman Nicole Hensel (Richmond Hill, NY/Archbishop Molloy) all took home a pair of first place finishes. Morley placed first in the Women's 200-yard IM (2:25.37) and the Women's 100-yard Backstroke (1:04.50). Johanson placed first in the Women's 50-yard Freestyle (27.07) and the Women's 100-yard Butterfly (1:06.43). Hensel placed first in the Women's 1,000-yard Freestyle (13:41.97) and the Women's 100-yard Freestyle (1:04.72). Freshman Callie Grace (Dalton, MA/Miss Halls) also took home a first place finish in the Women's 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 2:10.47. The team of Grace, Johanson, Ellen Lynch (Rockaway, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) and Morely took first place in the Women's 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:04.73.
Pace returns to action on Saturday, November 10th
when the Setters host Adelphi University at the Goldstein Health,
Fitness & Recreation Center on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
Meet is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
