SWIMMING FINISHES FOURTH AT
McCARTHY INVITATIONAL
SETTERS HAVE SOLID SEASON-OPENING MEET
NEW YORK, NY- The Pace swimming and diving teams finished in fourth place at the weekend's McCarthy Invitational hosted by the New York Athletic Club. The meet is the Setters first of the 2008-09 season.
For the women, the 400-freestyle relay Callie Grace (Dalton, MA/Miss Halls), Laura Carvajal (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon), Chelsea Oberhauser (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame), Erin Johanson (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield) took second place. In the 400-medley relay, the quartet of Oberhauser, Grace, Johanson and Angela Calia (Bellmore, NY/JFK) finished in third place. Individually, the women's team were also solid as Grace took second place in the 100-breaststroke as well as placing third in the 200-individual medley. Oberhauser took third in the 50-butterfly and 100-backstroke. Johanson had a pair of third place finishes in the 100-freestyle and 50-backstroke events.
On the men's side, Will King (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot) took third place in the 100-freestyle, while Trevor Paugh (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional) finished in third in the 100 breaststroke). Craig McClintock (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla) rounded out the men's team with a third place finish in the 100-backstroke.
Pace returns to action when they travel to Staten Island, NY for a dual match against the College of Staten Island on Wednesday, October 22. The meet is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
