MEN'S SWIMMING FALLS, WHILE
WOMEN DEFEAT STATEN ISLAND
CALLIE GRACE SET SCHOOL RECORD IN WOMEN'S VICTORY
STATEN ISLAND, NY- The Pace women's swimming team defeated the College of Staten Island 107-94, while the men's team lost 148-68 in a dual meet. Callie Grace (Dalton, MA/Miss Halls) set the school record in the 100-breast stroke with a new time of 1:12.46, eclipsing the old time of 1:13.22, set by Kristine Robinson in 2005.
In the 400-medley relay, the quartet of Erin Johanson (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield), Grace, Chelsea Oberhauser (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame), and Angela Calia (Bellmore, NY/JFK) took first place with a time of 4:31.54. In individual events, Grace had a pair of first place finishes, including winning the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.48. Oberhauser also won a two events, taking the top spot in the 100-fly with a time of 1:06.98 and the 100-backstroke, posting a time of 1:04.26. Cassandra Gentile (Cortland Manor, NY/Walter Panas) was the Setters lone diver and took first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Johanson won the 200-freestyle with a time of 2:05.94, while finishing in second place in the 100-back with a time of 1:06.46. Calia won the 500-freestyle, posting a time of 6:14.27. Laura Carvajal (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon) took first in the 100-freestyle with a time of 1:01.53 and finished second in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:23.31.
On the men's side, the 400-freestyle relay team of Will King (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot), Peter Byrnes (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Valley West), Craig McClintock (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla) and Trevor Paugh (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional) won the event with a time of 3:44.04. Individually, Paugh won the 200-IM with a time of 2:11.21, while taking second in the 100-breaststroke, posting a time of 1:08.85. McClintock won the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:31.96, while King also won his event, the 100-freestyle with a time of 54.18 seconds.
Pace returns to action when they travel to Waltham, MA to participate in the Bentley University Invitational on Sunday, October 26. The meet is scheduled to start at 9:00 am.
