MEN FALL TO MOUNT
SAINT MARY AND DEFEAT YORK;
WOMEN WIN TWO TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED
GENTILE SETS SCHOOL RECORD IN PACE VICTORY
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University men's and women's swimming & diving teams got back in the pool last night competing in a tri-meet against Mount Saint Mary College and York College. The men fell to Mount Saint Mary College 57-36, and beat York College 57-33 for their first win on the year. In women's action the Setters beat both Mount Saint Mary College and York College by scores of 60-41, and 64-20.
On the men's side they were led by senior Trevor Paugh (Wantage, NY/High Point Regional) who set a new season best time of 1:07.08 in a thrilling victory in the 100 Breaststroke just edging out James Kearny 1:07.35 from York. Will King (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot) also had a 1st place finish in the 200 Freestyle setting a season best time of 2:00.48. Rounding out the first place finishes was Craig McClintock (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla) finishing with a season best time of 5:29.27 in the 500 Freestyle.
In women's action freshman Cassandra Gentile (Cortland Manor, NY/Walter Panas) set a new school record in her first place finish in the 3M Diving with a score of 341.80. Gentile also finished first in the 1M Diving with a score of 215.10. Erin Johanson (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield) had a pair of first place finishes on the day with a time of 2:07.74 in the 200 Freestyle, and a season best time of 1:06.30 in a victory in the 100 Backstroke. The season records continue to fall last night as the 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Johanson, Chelsea Oberhauser (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame), Angela Calia (Bellmore, NY/John F. Kennedy), and Callie Grace (Dalton, MA/ Miss Halls) finished with a season best time of 2:02.18. With the pair of wins the women move to 4-0 on the season.
Pace returns to the pool on Saturday, November 8th when the Setters host Adelphi University. The meet is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
