TWO RELAY RECORDS FALL ON OPENING DAY OF NORTHEAST-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS
NEW HAVEN, CT- The Pace women's swimming team opened the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with a rousing first day as a pair of school records in the relay events were broken. The men's and women's 200-yard Medley Relay records were knocked out of the record books by over one second.
In the women's 200-yard medley relay, the quartet of Erin Johanson (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield), Angela Calia (Bellmore, NY/JFK), Chelsea Oberhauser (Cream Ridge, NJ/Notre Dame) and Callie Grace (Dalton, MA/Miss Halls) posted a time of 1:57.32, beating the old school record of 1:59.01 set in 2006. the time was good for a fourth place finish in the event.
On the men's side, Craig McClintock (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla), Trevor Paugh (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional), Will King (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot), and John Nelson (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) set a record of their own in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:47.42, good for a sixth place finish. The time eclipsed the old school record of 1:48.87 also set in 2006.
The Setters have two more days of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with the bulk of the remaining events occurring over next two days. The meet is hosted by Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT.
