MEN FINISH SEVENTH AND WOMEN TAKE 10TH PLACE AT SILFEN INVITATIONAL
NEW LONDON, CT- The Pace men's track and field finished seventh place and the women's team took 10th place at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
The Men's team finished 7th led by Junior Enrick Garcia's 3rd
place finish in the 10000m run with a time of 34:54.48.
Sophomore Sam Asbeck broke his own Pace Record in the long jump
with a 6.31m (20'8.5") jump good for 6th place. Also turning
in a 6th place finish was Junior Kency Gilet in the 400m
Intermediate Hurdles with a 59.91. Freshmen Dan Carpenter
continued his success in the Shot Put and Javelin placing 3rd and
4th place with throws of 12.70m (41'8") and 49.97m
(163'11").
The Women's team saw two school records break in a 10th place
finish. Sophomore Safia McNeishie had a great afternoon with
a 6th place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 13.99 and placed
4th in the long jump with a 4.72m (15'6") leap. Freshmen
Sarah Rodriguez set the school record in the 3000m Steeplechase
finishing 5th with a time of 14:33.81. Also contributing was
Senior Erica Young in the 5000m with a time of 22:25.84 good
for 8th place. The 4x800m made up of Sarah Rodriguez, Michele
Tanzi, Jen Mayo, and Amanda Pnueman finished 3rd and broke the
school record set last week with a time of 11:31.87.
The Setters will travel to Bryant University in Smithfield, RI to
compete at the NE-10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship on May
3rd in their season finale.
