Track and Field 

TRACK AND FIELD COMPETE AT NE-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Pace University Men's and Women's Track and Field teams traveled to Bryant University to compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.  The Women finished the meet with six total points, finishing in eighth place in the conference.  Senior Risa Boroda (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) finished fifth in the 10,000m run with a time of 53:12.03, breaking her previous school record.  Sophomore Sarah Rodriguez (Ossining, NY/Our Lady of Victory) ran a 13:55.54 in the 3000m Steeplechase, good for fifth place and classmate Safia McNeishie (Sharon Hill, PA/Ridley) beat out a large and talented field of long jumpers for sixth place with a jump of 4.71m.  The Men's team finished in eighth place, beating out American International College with 7 points.  Freshmen Dan Carpenter (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) was the lone point scorer for the Setters finishing fourth in the Javelin Throw and fifth in the Shot Put with throws of 51.66m and 13.07m. 

The Women's team will be saying good-bye to three seniors this year.  Jennifer Mayo (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park), a transfer from Adelphi University competed on the Cross Country team as well as the Track and Field team.  Boroda graduates as the first member of the Women's team to compete all four years for the Setters.  Boroda, a two-sport athlete, running both Cross Country and Track and Field, was also the woman to compete in the 10,000m run, setting the school record.  Erica Young (Brooklyn, NY/West Plains) joined the Track and Field team last season as a Junior.  She ran Cross Country for one season this Fall and completed her second year in track.  She will take with her the school record for the 5,000m run and a record holder as a member of the 4x800m relay team.

The Men's team will be losing Ruben Pagan (Bellport, NY/Bellport), a solid sprinter and solid running back for the Pace University Football team.  A three-year Track Athlete, Pagan has been the anchor of the record breaking 4x100m relay team.
