PACE TRACK AND FIELD TEAM'S COMPETE IN THE WESLEYAN ELMER SWANSON INVITATIONAL

 

MIDDLETOWN, CT - The Pace University men's and women's track and field teams put up some impressive times as they competed in their third event of the season in the Swanson Invitational hosted on the campus of Wesleyan University.

The Pace men's team was led by senior Kency Gilet (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet) who finished in first place, which was the only first place finish for the Setters on the day, in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:01.49. Mike LaMonica Beachwood, NJ (Toms River South) represented the Setters well in the field events as he placed fifth in the Men's Long Jump with a distance of 5.53 meters, and second place in the Men's Javelin Throw with a distance of 46.74 meters.

On the women's side the Setters were paced by sophomore Obusola Oyesesobi (Essex County CC) as she posted an eighth place finish in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 14.92. Oyesesobi also had another top 10 finish on the day as she placed fifth in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 21.22. Safia McNeishie (Sharon Hill, PA/Ridley) was the high finisher in the field events for Pace as she posted a second place finish in the Women's Long Jump with a distance of 4.68 meters.

The track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday, April 18 as they will be competing in the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College in New London, CT.
