PACE TRACK AND FIELD TEAM'S COMPETE IN THE SILFEN TRACK & FIELD INVITATIONAL

 

NEW LONDON, CT - The Pace University men's and women's track and field teams competed in their fourth event of the season in the Silfen Invitational hosted on the campus of Connecticut College.

The Pace men's team was led by junior Sam Asbeck (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) who finished in 13th place in the Men's 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.22 seconds. Asbeck also competed in the Men's Long Jump finishing in fifth place with a jump of 6.25 meters. Freshman Ken Hoaag (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) continued the trend of solid finishes for the Setter men in the field events by finishing sixth in the Men's Javelin Throw with a distance of 45.82 meters. The men's team finished the invitational in 11th place out of 14 teams.  

On the women's side the Setters were paced by sophomore Michelle Tanzi (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) as she posted a ninth place finish in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:06.46. Tanzi also had another top 15 finish on the day as she placed 12th in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:34.45. Sarah Rodriguez (Ossining, NY/Our Lady of Victory) recorded the highest finish on the day for any Pace track athlete as she finished in third place in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 21:18.92. The women's team finished the event in 13th place.

The track and field teams will be wrapping up their season on Saturday, May 2 as they will be competing in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships hosted by UMass Lowell in Lowell, MA.
