 WOMEN"S SOCCER FALLS TO SAINT ANSELM, 6-2

BRIARCLIFF, NY- The Pace University Women's Soccer Team dropped a tough Northeast-10 match to Saint Anselm 6-2. Saint Anselm scored four unanswered goals in the second half after Pace had fought back to tie the game at 2-2. With the loss Pace's record drops down to (2-9-0, 2-8-0 NE-10), while Saint Anselm's record improves to (6-7-1, 3-6-1 NE-10).

 Saint Anselm got on the board first in the 12th minute when Senior Michelle Nuzzo headed home the rebound off a shot that clanked off the crossbar to give The Hawks a 1-0 lead. That was all the scoring in the 1st half as Saint Anselm took a 1-0 lead into half.

 Pace came right out of the gate in the 2nd half to tie up the game 1-1 when Freshman Mariah Darrah (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh) headed home a beautiful cross from fellow Freshman Allyson Dyl (Kearny, NJ/Kearny).

 Saint Anselm wasted no time taking back the lead in the 50th minute when Sophomore Jennifer Pearl fired a shot by Setter goalie Breanna Gault (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta/SUNY Delhi) to give Saint Anselm a 2-1 lead.

 Pace came right back with an answer of their own in the 57th minute when Dyl received a pass from Darrah and pushed it past the Saint Anselm goalie knotting the game back up at 2-2.

 Saint Anselm would put the game away however when Junior Mary Kate Heavey received a pass from fellow Junior Heidi Reece and slid it by Gault in the 69th minute giving Saint Anselm a 3-2 lead.

 Saint Anselm put the game well out of reach with three more unanswered goals in the last 20 minutes of the game including two by Junior Bethany Dunn to put away the Setters.

 Pace is back on the field this Wednesday, October 15th as they try to snap a five match losing streak against New Haven at home with 3:00 p.m. start.
