D'ALESSANDRO'S LATE GOAL
LIFTS SETTERS TO SECOND STRAIGHT TIE
GAME AGAINST GEORGIAN COURT ENDS IN
2-2 TIE
LAKEWOOD, NJ- Dania D'Alessandro's (Victor, NY/Victor) goal in the 89th minute of play to tie the game at two forcing overtime. Both overtimes were scoreless as the game ended knotted at two. The Setters move their record to 2-11-1, while the Lions now stand at 8-6-4 on the season.
The Setters struck first as freshman Mariah Darrah (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh) took a feed from Ashley Sommers (Highland Mills, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) to put Pace up 1-0 in the 36th minute. The Lions would tie up just four minutes later as Candace Seaton scored off an assist by Kelly Lyons.
Georgian Court would take the lead early in the second half as Lyons would put the Lions up 2-1 off an assist by Shannon Mastrogiovanni.
The Setters remained down one goal until the final minutes of play as D'Alessandro's would net the equalizer with 1:40 left in the regulation to force overtime off an assist by Cynthia Mendoza (Costa Mesa, CA/Costa Mesa).
The teams attempted five shot each in both overtime periods with none finding the back of the nets as the Setters earned their second straight draw.
Pace goalkeeper Breanna Gault (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) went the distance, notching five saves on the day. Georgian Court's Lindsay Hammond matched Gault's effort, recording nine saves for the game
Pace held the advantage on shots, 20-1, while the Lions led on corner kicks 5-3.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, October 25 when they will host the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University in a Northeast-10 Conference game. Prior to Saturday's 3:30 pm start, the Setters will honor two of the seniors for their careers at Pace.
