NATALIJA SUBOTIC NAMED NE-10 WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Nicole Zalak & Joana-Theresa Augustine Earn All-Conference Honors in No. 2 Doubles

SOUTH EASTON, MA - Pace University junior Natalija Subotic (Bradenton, FL/Edison Academic) has been named the 2008 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Tennis Vern Cox Player of the Year. Subotic was also named to the All-Conference First Team in number one singles. Senior Nicole Zalak (Medford, NY/Pat-Med) and sophomore Joana-Theresa Augustine (Providence, RI/Rhode Island C.C.) also earned all-conference honors being named to the NE-10 All-Conference Third Team at Number Two Doubles.

Subotic, the former freshman of the year winner in 2006 and two-time all-conference second team selection in number one singles, was a force this season for the Setters finishing the season with a 13-1 overall record, 11-1 in conference play, at number one singles as she was also a two-time player of the week honoree this season. Her lone loss on the year came in Pace's season opener against conference foe Bryant University, as Subotic fell to Emma Czarnecki, 6-4, 6-1. Czarnecki was a second team all-conference selection at number one singles this season.

The tandem of Zalak and Augustine posted a 7-6 record in number two doubles on the season.

The Vern Cox Player of the Year Award is named in honor of the former longtime Springfield College head coach Vern Cox.
